- School is starting back up and the Biggest building truss install is back on! I need to utilize Cole before I lose him for the Summer! What used to be a one or two day job max, Truss Install day is now a process with the Biggest Building we have ever built so I am glad to have Cole's help!
What do you guys think of Cole's Tool Belt Reveal? It was all his idea and it kind of made me sick to see what was in his tool belt.

Great to hear Cole be so articulate and enjoying his summer job .. the experience he is having makes me so envious. Great young man , comes from great parenting.
He just gotta gain more condition using different muscles. Not for an hour but enough for the full 8 hours then his thinkin gets better and faster correspondingly. Then everything gets easier and everything starts falling into place almost by themselves. Including his self esteem. Then he just can't wait to start work the next day albeit after he crawls outta bed that is
♫ You could never be mo happy when your back is young and strong. ♫
I think you should do a series where you build a house for Greg
Hes already living in a house that he and Kyle re-built.
Sure just spend 500k on the guy you pay. That make sense
I mean it's nice, but it takes away time he can take a project, build something for a customer and make money for his family and business.
@@NaenaeBoyspend? I mean Greg can pay for it, and the content helps pay Greg. 1+1 can equal 2, think about it. 🙄
Last video I saw about the topic, they did remodel a house that greg rents from Kyle. And it went from a basic polish up to a pretty decent rehab with a large part of it sponsored by smartside. Also last addressed, greg doesn't earn any income from the youtube content. Now maybe that part has changed as only recently greg has been wearing a mic but certainly don't know for sure.
My son works with me full time. It's a fulfilling arrangement. I'm sure you feel the same way when Cole is available to help.
Cole, always remember, Dad is not always right, but he is always Dad! Hope you two continue to have a good father/son relationship.
Kyle, sorry to hear about your insulation at RRHQ, but I gleaned one thing that you may not have realized... you have such an awesome family! Helping you clean up?! That shows AWESOME family dynamics. Bravo.
I agree 100%
👍👍👍 Big Thumbs Up to Cole. The trades are severely lacking in his generation, and seeing his willingness to learn gives a glimmer of hope for our future workforce 😊
There’s no question that Cole is your Son. He’s a clone of his dad. Big Thumbs up for you Cole. Good Luck in your next semester.
It's great to see you working side by side with Cole it's a bond that will last a lifetime. When I started I was just a kid in grade school and I wanted to be as good as the men I worked with but, it takes time to develop skill and work smarts especially when you are getting pranked on a daily basis, I still have good memories of projects from decades ago even though the men I worked with are all gone.
I asked my dad to teach me his trade nearly 40 years ago and when we worked together, it was the best feeling in the world.
Glad to see Cole up there enjoying himself.
Cole gets 👍👍, that’s a double for a great save for Dad this summer.
Cole great job. Remember the times working with my grandfather. Learned so much.
Cole grows in confidence and ability every time we see him. He will make an excellent addition to RR in the future. Now I wish him best of luck for the coming academic year and I am sure he will nail his grades as well as he nails purlins. 😎✊
You guys are so funny working together, but seriously it is super wholesome watching your father and son dynamic. It would have been so cool to know that I helped build something of such a monumental size at Cole’s age. Awesome job Cole! Absolutely love this channel.
Boundry Water area is so beautiful...went there when I was your son's age...on a 5 day portage canoe trip...God's Country...I was born & raised in MN...If youve never been, you will be amazed...we even canoed across the BORDER illegally 😆...there were signs...went went into Canada...and then turned around and came right back...this was in the late '70s...the building is really comin' along...get those damn glasses on, especially with that Paslode framer...Y'all have a safe trip 🙏
always a thumbs up on all your videos, always... but, if my son "dude's me 16x in one day" - he'll be picking aggregate from his knees... @Cole - show some respect boy... this is your legacy to carry on with, hate to see how you talk to your employees one day...
I grew up working for my dad in the Masonry business. I started just going with him when I was very young, playing in the sand pile with my metal Tonkas on small residential jobs. It's kind of funny how things changed. I'm almost 60 and my dad has been gone since 2010 and as I look back there was a natural progression and I woke up one day and we "changed" roles. I didn't realize it was happening as he was letting go and I was taking on more. No words were spoken, it just happened. My dad was my best friend.
Cole will be taking your company over one day with all the knowledge he is gaining working with the best builders. You and Greg have taught him a lot this summer.
I was Cole many years ago working for my father. I wasn’t nearly as good as Cole….
Kyle said do do 💩. All jokes aside, great work guys 2:57
Well rested and relaxed after his honeymoon, lol that was funny , dude he will never be well rested and relaxed ever again
WELL DONE COLE!!!!
You sure are a super talent!
To see father and son working, talking, learning and building together in this way is a absolute joy!
12:23 you forgot to tell me him to say “hiya”
Youre soo lucky Kyle to have a Son that wants to work in his holidays, and Not want to be on a Playstation, or with his friends all the time. He's been a great assett to the job And has learnt a lot. "Good Job Cole!!". Next birthday Tools for his tool belt.!!😁 I was wondering , as you obviously have Hired the "Magni" for this job, and the other job!, does the amount you spent Hiring it go anywhere the amount If you bought it??. This is the 2nd job you have used it on , Maybe customers seeing you take on Big jobs will maybe bring More big jobs youre way and have the Magni pay for itself.!! Thanks for the video.
Unless they were using the Magni all day / every day, they’re much better off renting, economically speaking. Rental equipment is surprisingly inexpensive, largely because it’s a very competitive business.
Great job Cole, hope your school year goes well
I'm glad you're having your son with you. Giving him a skill that will take him a long way. And who knows? Maybe take over the business from you, dad.!!!
Oh, and also you're a better teacher than I would be with my sons. I don't have the patience anymore
Love all of the great comments about Cole and the father/son relationship here. All the best to you, Cole!! Have a great summer my good man!!!
Big thumbs up to Cole! He did great, and I enjoyed you guys working together this summer. ❤
Great job Cole. Just remember dad will be working for you in a couple of years. 😂😂👍👍🏴🏴
Excellent video. You working with Cole is always enjoyable because we all can relate on both sides (the dad/mom teacher and the son/daughter apprentice). I loved this video.
The square bit you have in your pouch Cole, may be a "Robertson" bit like we have in Canada. They come in 4 sizes yellow, green, red, black.
Kyle I know you hear it all the time as I once did ( I hv a two children boy/ girl raised now ) however; it was encouraging to me therefore it’s meant as a lift for you !
Your wife & you hv done and are doing from all appearances a great job with your young man Cole and your daughter! That’s not by accident or luck of the draw ! But blessings from Christ & hard, hard work !
Small tidbit of useless information. The grade stamp, COFI (council of forest industries) NLGA (national lumber grades authority) 124 (mill number). At 30:08 the boards shown were manufactured in Burns Lake, British Columbia, Canada at Babine Forest Products.
Good job Cole! I worked for my Dad before going into the Air Force at age 19. I treasure those days, especially since he is no longer with us. Good luck to you.
Kyle, all of your content is outstanding. But I especially enjoy watching you working with Cole. All of us father’s watching are as proud as you. Keep up the great work!
Kyle and Cole You work together very well. Cole I am proud of you as you learn the Building Trade. I see your progress on the job all the time. Love these videos very much. John in Missouri Valley Iowa.
That “truss spin” was AMAZING! Way to go Cole! Regardless…I’m sure these are lifetime memories! Can’t take those away! #fatherson
It's cool that you have "a get it done " attitude with your son..
You shoot straight. Just like the way my dad talked to me.
My gramps on the other hand were gentle.
I miss them both.
My girls tell me, Dad you don't beat around the tree. You just say what you mean. 😊❤
I'm a lone ranger myself.
But I'm good with it.
My little grandsons are both coming along fine. And great grandson are doing good too.
One of my great grandson is starting skool this year. I will get a chance to see all of my grand children graduate too.
I will see my youngest daughter get her PhD too. ❤❤
Two girls have their Master's degree now. Life is good. ❤❤
I'm curious to know the total budget for this build. Material cost? Total cost? It's an impressive build! Nice job guys!
Very satisfying to watch.
2-3 guys building massive structures. Thumbs up!
That’s pretty impressive that you got 1/4”. Extremely exact. I think most people wouldn’t get how tough this would be
Great to see Cole working more, this education is the best, but he’s going to regret that haircut someday, guaranteed. 😂
The quality and repeatability rationale seems like a perfect reason to do the little more work of manually driving 60p instead of shooting them.
For DIY folks trying to learn from your video, do you think there would be value in using appropriate GRKs instead of the 60p? Trade a few hundred (maybe couple thousand) dollars of more expensive fasteners for a layperson to use the lower skill driver/drill instead of a hammer on their barndo build. I’m thinking it the saved hours and muscle soreness may be worth it for that person doing a one-off build where perfecting a hammer swing isn’t going to pay them in future work.
Great video on “How to”. Nice work. I hope to build my own small workshop someday. With your videos I feel confident I could do it.
Seems weird hearing a son and dad calling each other DUDE!
(Wonder how many knots I would have on my head after waking up from a coma.)
@ 17:40 That's weird, the building isn't swaying back and forth. 🙄🙄
"Greg is still on his honeymoon, I hope he's having a great time. He's been sending me pictures... 😶 what kind of pictures?
Amen man! For an employee to pick up on what's going on and get ahead of things so that they are ready for the next move, I don't know if you can necessarily teach that but it is awesome. Very valuable! Good job Cole
Cole is one hell of an apprentice. Hoping his boss gives him an AMAZING bonus.
Loved working with my son and miss it. Glad to see you two work so well together. Great job Cole have fun in school.
Great job Cole!! your dad might not say it enough, but you are coming along just fine. Kyle, who is doing your video work, they are good.👍
You’re a lucky man Kyle to bring Cole with you to work! I bring my son to work with me every chance I get also. Although he’s only 7, he is super easy to learn and can trust to do certain tasks all by himself. Granted I’m not letting him saw or nothing dangerous but I let him do a lot. Right now I’m doing a remodel for my sister in law, his aunt, so I can bring him all I want. I hated school going back because he can’t be there with me 😂.
Kyle, love the videos! How do fuel up all of your equipment on the job site? Transfer tanks, fuel trucks come out?
Looks like your facebook page got hacked? Some people just have nothing better to do than mess with good people like Kyle. The build looks fantastic so far 🤙
Working on this giant storage building will give Cole a great idea if he will being joining Kyle in the family business.
Just an fyi y’all are probably going to start losing some followers. Your Facebook page got hacked and they’re sharing a bunch of political bs and spammy things
Kyle your attention to details is amazing if I had the money;definitely want you to build anything for me.
Oorah, Cole!! Get us some video of him playing football, Kyle.
Interesting video but always schooling video is different😃
Kyle - Please, please, please think of your safety while on top of the roof like that. You should be harnessed in with a safety line. I get it's not the best situation, but think of what could happen to you and your family depends on you....hell, we depend on you for these videos! Love seeing you work with your son! Miss Greg though too!
A switch hitter with the hammer. I must have known that…Hmm I don’t suppose driving one nail using two hammers - one in each hand - 9:12 is all that useful OTJ but would make a cool short.
I was a bricklayer for a long time. my tech teacher called it economy of movement.
Achieving a task quickly without looking like a dog on a hardwood floor.
Kyle,
Where is Greg registered? I’m sure the general public would chip in for him.
Thumbs up Cole. Please continue to follow in Dad's footsteps. 👍
Nice seeing Coles' mastery on the hammer, grabbing it by the heel, full power, no longer choking up!
I used to build with my old-man he taught me just about everything i know. We had some monumental fights at work, but the second we left the job, we were best friends again. Till the next day 😂
Love to see father and son working together. Luck having that great relationship.
There's something about Greg's eyes...there different. 🤣🤣🤣
Great work Cole. See you getting comfortable swinging that hammer
It is definitely stressful at times trying to teach a new person when you have been doing the job yourself so long. I totally understand Kyle when he is explaining to Cole each and every exact move he wants him to make. I used to always explain to my employee ……… I do everything for a reason and when you are trying to work as a team it’s important that everyone is making the same exact moves for efficiency. I guess it’s like being in the army. You can’t have one guy out of step with the rest of the crew. The best thing Cole can do is realize his dad is an expert at what he is doing and just listen and learn and he will soon understand why he does stuff the way he does. What the new guy often doesn’t understand is the boss is constantly trying to think four or five steps ahead and if you don’t have a precise system worked out then things can very quickly go wrong. Kyle is also realizing how valuable it is to be working with a seasoned guy like Greg. When he has Greg with him he can focus on his own task and feel confident that Greg is doing his end of the job without having to keep an eye on him all the time. Greg might even get a raise when he comes back 😂.
Quick question, do you not have to put down any sort of vapor barrier or insulation for the roof metal to keep it from sweating and getting the purlins wet? You may have said it in a previous episode but I can’t recall if so. Just curious.
Kyle. Milwaukee or porter cable palm nailer. But nothing wrong with manual labour
Good job Cole 👏 💪 glad to see you both working together and making memories you both will remember forever !
#JESUSisALIVE #RRbuilders #FATHERandSON
Cole is a mini horse. a baby beast. a tiny terror. So far, a good young man.
the blocking will split in half, use 1-1/8 plywood instead
Cole: That’s like dead center there dude
Kyle: Congrats?
🤣
Tell the Quetico I said Hello. I have spent 90 days there in my life time. I hope you have a great time. Camp on islands to miss the bears.
I don't understand how one nail can hold the purlins in place. I thought the nail should be 3 times larger than the wood it fastens, as a rule of thumb. Love your videos!
have you guys tried the sledgehammer head on your Martinez hammer for the perlin nails? or the milwaukee electric palm nailer?
2 questions, when you predrill the holes in the purlins, do you drill all the way through the 2x4 or just partially? And what are the length or size of the nails you put in them?
Is it more efficient too hammer the way you are doing, or simply to have smaller whacks and many more of them. Would be interesting to compare
I tried to learn from my dad but he was an asshole so I had to learn on my own. I've never met a bigger asshole besides my dad but for some reason, I still love him. My dad used to yell at me constantly and I could never do anything right at all. He would never give me a complement until he stopped by one of my jobs and saw the level of craftsmanship that I had done. I'm not sure if I agree with raising your son to be your friend but your a much nicer dad to your son than my dad was to me. At least it seems like your raising your son to be a friend in these videos based on the way that he's talking to you.
I see a future RUclips channel RR Jr Unleveling. 😊😊
Cole is awesome! Big thumbs up for him!!!
18:10 How is the lift strap coming from space through a cloud? Did you upgrade to the god magni?
Was good to see Cole thinking and asking to try something new, idk obviously but think it may have worked for him if the steading ling was at the other end which I think you did at the end of the video. None the less I doff my hat to you Cole "Thinking" is key sir 💪
I enjoy your videos but one question. Why do you set the top of of your truss away from where they go up.? if they was turned 1/2 turn they wouldn't need to be spun around. just a thought.
Why didn't u guys use an underlayment and vapor barrier before putting the metal roofing on
Greg got married? That's awesome congratulations
Great job this summer Cole keep up the good work
its got 2 tiny motors with a atari joystick tat reaches up to 30 ft. the button lowers the top up and down....
I enjoyed this episode more than the others because of the banter you and your son had going back and forth. It was reminiscent of working with my son. We had ups and downs and as a father, I’d push him to always do better and to think outside the box. He would surprise me with ideas that worked and we would implement them. Soak up these days. They go fast and as my situation would be, you’ll never have another. I’ve enjoyed your channel for several years now and it’s something to see how far you’ve come.
Congratulations Cole! Treasure these days with your dad!
I'm sorry if this has been asked already, but are the big nails the only way you attach your purlins to the trusses or do you come back and put straps on as well?
You make more money with a little bit of manpower ? customer ok with a job taking so long ?
it would be nice to have an adapter that goes on the end of the big nail gun the keep the nail vertical with the purlin. wood splitting would be my next concern..
good job Cole. keep it up and you will show up the ole man in no time. my son and I have done alot of projects together and i love it. it is time well spent and time the ole man will never forget. your dad knows what he is doing so you can learn alot. keep up the good work
Cole swings a hammer like they hired some hollywood trust fund softie kid to play kyle in a movie
Cole, you been a great addition to the team. 👍👍👍👍. I am sure wou are going to tell your friends many stories like a pro.
